Painted Chevron Vase

So…I know it’s been a while, so I figured I would post SOMETHING.  I’m still in the process of upgrading our kitchen, and it’s a slow and steady process…but we’re getting there.  Here’s the before post, painted cabinets post, chevron wall post, and backsplash post.

I might have mentioned the plastic bags issue we had…or maybe I didn’t.  ANYWAY…I folded each bag into the shape of a football – you know, the ones you used to play with i middle school?  Yeah, all my plastic bags are in the football shape.  So I needed someplace to store them, and since I had a Chevron Wall, why not paint a vase, and make a Chevron holder for my plastic bags??  BRILLIANT, I TELL YA!!

So…I took my vase, and taped up the pattern.  I had a strip down the back end, because the pattern didn’t match going all the way around – no big deal.  I think it looked pretty cool.

Then, I took my small foam brushes (left over from a different project), and painted the chevron pattern to mimic the wall I already had.  It needed three coats, because I was painting on glass….took a while…

Right after I was done painting, I pulled the tape off, and got my finished lines.

Unfortunately, because it was a curved surface, my lines weren’t as crisp as I would have liked.  So, AFTER THE PAINT HAD DRIED, I went through each line with a razor blade, and made the lines crisp.  Here’s the picture of the finished product (with all my little plastic football bags!)
